The Pomegranate Trees
On an old and unused dirt road about a mile and a half from my back gate
is a row of scraggly pomegranate trees.
They get no water or attention outside what is shared
with wild tobacco, sage and cactus.
They seem proud to produce fruit every year. I've eaten them. But not just me. The birds do too.
Once I saw a bird's nest in one.
This sculpture is what my imagination knows of this reality. I share this with you.
